HOW TO TAKE
One tablet of MEDROXYPROGESTERONE 10 mg, twice a day has to be started 6 days or earlier before expected menses.
One tablet of 10 mg is prescribed to be taken twice a day for the number of days as per the postponement or preponement of periods is required. 2 days after stopping the medicines withdrawal bleeding in the form of menses begins.
The next and the subsequent menstrual cycles usually remain unaffected. It does not interfere with pregnancy later on or when it is desired.

Oral Contraceptives in the use of postponement of menses:
OVRAL - G ®, product of Wyeth, contains 20 tablets, each containing Ethinyl estradiol I.P.50 µg and Norgestrel I.P. 500 µg.
Postponement of Menses with OVRAL - G ®
Norgestrel I.P. 500 µg
Ethinyl estradiol I.P. 50 µg.
For postponement of menses, one tablet should be taken daily starting with the 20th day i.e. eight days prior to expected date of menstruation. With this dosage, the menstrual period can be postponed to the 40th day i.e. about two weeks beyond the expected date. [1]
Withdrawal bleeding should usually occur within 3 days after the last tablet is taken.
OTHER OC PILLS
The other combination oral contraceptives containing "ETHINYL ESTRADIOL" 0.05 mg with "LEVONORGESTREL" 0.15 mg as PROGESTERONE have smaller doses of available progesterone hence
are not used for postponement of periods.
