LUST It is not just 'lust', which could be satisfied by one night stand or by commercial sex worker (prostitute - busy body - gigolo).
LIKING It is not just 'liking' as "I like my colleague or I like blue color.
DESIRE Love is not 'desire' as in desire for diamond or gold or money.
PLATONIC [ 4 ] It is not 'platonic' love as in simple friendship where there is joy in meeting and talking, but the heart doesn't go throbbing or crazy with anticipation of meeting (in person or on phone or internet). It is not 'friendship', which is what one has with person of the same gender too. It is not like friendship between two boys or two girls.
FAMILIAL It is not 'familial' love. That is it is neither brotherly, fatherly, motherly affection, nor fondness, admiration for a teacher. This love that we are talking about is not virtue of compassion, unselfish affection, benevolent caring, kindness, loyalty for another person(s) or animal(s) or tree(s) [ 2 ] [ 3 ].
CRAVING We are not talking about craving for food.
DEVOTION [ 5 ] We are not talking of love for one's work, company, country, prophet or God. We are not talking about 'devotion'.
CRUSH We are not talking about 'crush' with a film star or sports person about whom we are crazy, but have not even met in person or spoken on phone.

What more does this love mean? It is involvement, attachment with the other person. Lust begins to rise. You are fixated as on a drug wanting to be more and more closer for longer and longer time with the other person. This love is one : to : one. This is possessive. Meaning you would not like the person to have same intimacy with another person. It brings jealousy if another person gets similar affection. This love progresses from eye contact or texting to talking, to touching, to fondling, to sexual intimacy. It has euphoria unlike any other thing. One in such relation is often said to be 'mad' in love and 'blind' in love. The ecstasy in anticipation and on meeting on phone or in person is of the highest order, compulsive or addictive.

CONSEQUENCES OF BEING IN LOVE

THE GAIN It is interesting to know how love is beneficial for health, a sense of overall well being, happiness quotient rises. Love can do miracles it is said.
