Pelvic floor muscles along with pelvic fascia comprises the pelvic diapragm. Just as the abdominal diaphragm (partition) separates the chest and abdomen, so too the pelvic diaphragm is a sling with pelvic organs on top and through the diaphragm pass the outlet for urine (urethra), stools (anus) and menses (vagina).

Pelvic Floor comprises of the Levator ani and the Coccygeus muscles. The Levator ani, made up of the illeococcygeus and the pubococcygeus muscles, along with the Coccygeus muscle act as one single muscle.
Nerve Supply:
The muscles of this group are supplied by the perineal branch of the pudendal. The repeated contraction and relaxation of these muscles tones up the pelvic diaphragm and thereby helps in the treatment of number of conditions of leakages from these three passages.
Nerve Supply
The Coccygeus is supplied by a branch from the fourth and fifth sacral nerves.
